Artificial Intelligence — The Future of Mankind

Going to the moon, The Theory of Relativity, and Discovering Gravity. What do these three events have in common?

They all have to do with space? No. Another event that could fit in is the invention of the telephone. Did you figure it out yet?

If you haven’t the answer is very simple, they all revolutionized the world in a positive way. But wait, how did going to the moon help society in any way? Sure we got information about the moon, but there are so many things that improved society way more.

The thing is, there is more to these events then revolutionizing the world. Every decade has either one or a couple of events that stand out from the rest.

These are examples of events that when we look back will be cemented in history as the start of a new world. Events that not only stood out from the rest in their decade, but defined it.

Now with the 2010s ending and the 2020s about to begin, we are due for another one of these events. And in my opinion, there is no doubt that this event will be the emergence of Artificial Intelligence.

But, why?

If AI will define the 2020s then it must be really, really big. Don’t get me wrong, all the other emerging technologies will also be super impactful.

But just like in every sports team, there is always a captain. The one who stands out and can pave a way for everyone else.

And I think that the reason AI will be the captain of emerging technologies for a couple of reasons.

Coding

The core of AI is computer programming. Without it, AI wouldn’t exist. I think that’s a fair statement. A lot of people are learning how to code because, for anyone interested in technology, it’s essential to know.

The programming language Python will lead AI for a couple of reasons. I wrote an article on this but the highlights include simplicity, the fact that you can apply what you learn from python to other languages, and more and more people are learning it.

Pretty much I’m trying to say that because coding is getting so popular because it is the core of technology, more and more people want to take it to the next level by learning AI. The growth of coding is equal to the growth of AI.

Its implications into our daily lives

In my eyes, a certain technology becomes really important when I can imagine it helping me every day regardless of what I’m interested in.

Because now it’s not only for people in a certain field but everyone uses the technology instead of just a select few. Then it becomes a major part in social infrastructure.

That is exactly what will happen with AI. It’s mind-blowing to think of the number of things that humans have to do on a daily basis that we could replace with a simple algorithm but save so much time.

I think that the reason we don’t is that it’s not fully developed yet. But the thing is unlike most technologies, I don’t think we need to put more effort.

The popularity is rising and now, we get to watch as AI will become our future.

From healthcare to transportation to space, I quite literally can‘t think of a single field that AI can’t make better. In terms of the possibilities we’re thinking 10% bigger, but it’s time we start thinking 10x bigger.

A lot of technologies fall under the category of AI

When I actually think of it. All my work in Autonomous Vehicles is just an internal part of AI. I use CNN’s and other things that are all from AI.

So I realized that a lot of things that we think are separate technologies just fall under AI. Technology wants to make lives easier. This is why most of them do it by being automated systems. But AI is almost by definition Automated Systems.

And all of a sudden we can see so many other technologies being put in the category of AI. Which is crazy how I never realized until today.

What am I going to do

It’s great to be able to talk about how AI will be a core part of our future. It does help me understand more about how it works. But I want to be apart of the AI world.

I want to fully immerse myself in the revolutionary technology. Over the next couple of weeks, I’m going to really dive deep into things that are super important to AI.

I’m lucky enough to have prior experience because of Autonomous Vehicles but I was only 50% in AI. It’s going to be an incredible experience and I can’t wait to bring you guys along!

I ended my newsletter with this and now I want to end this article with the same thing. In the next decade, my mindset is going to be revolved around the statement that:

“He who says he can, and he who says he can’t, are both usually right”
